Living Life

Applying God’s teaching to our lives

It is never to late to be who you might have been

George Eliot seems not to be the author of this wonderful line. Whoever said it, has me thinking.   “It is never to late to be who you might have been.”

Love

You are to be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect. Part of the definition of being perfect to not only love your neighbor, but to love also your enemy. Matthew 5 If this is perfection, also as we believe God is perfect, He clearly loves all, including all who are enemies to the Word; up to an including ‘the enemy’, lest he would not be perfect, even as He asks us to be. There must be a video to insert here claiming God hates beyond hyperbolic language found in the bible. Clearly God loves all.

Eternal Judgment, no, Rewards!

Hebrews 6:1   Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, Hebrews 6:2    Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. There is to be an ‘eternal judgment’. This is not the judgment of the unsaved. This is for the saved Christian. I’m starting to understand this is an assessment of what we did for the Kingdom. Hebrews 6:9  But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak. A John Vernon McGee paraphrase here. (I like to listen to his commentary found on the Blue Letter Bible.)...

Wandering Minds During Prayer

The Promise Keepers Canada Devotional Newsletter I received today is worth sharing, so I’m just pasting the whole thing below. Maybe it’s because I grew up in Michigan and have some Canadian blood, but I’m also drawn to Canada. What a great people they are! You can sign up for the daily influx of Biblical words from a man’s perspective – here. Keith Miller in The Edge of Adventure For a long time I had been disturbed about the problem of a wandering mind during my time of prayer. I would be trying to pray and suddenly my mind would jump to a business appointment I needed to make or something else I had to do. For years I had forced these things out of my mind to get back to “spiritual things.” But now, thanks to a...

What does the Lord require of Us?

Micah 6:8  He has told you, O man, what is good; And what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God? To do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God – that’s what has been asked of us. So stay focused on Jesus and let Him do all the heavy lifting. 2 Thessalonians 2:14  It was for this He called you through our gospel, that you may gain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Corinthians 3:18  But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit. Ezekiel 36:26     “Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove...

Stop Fighting you Robot

God is the Creator. He is the spark of life in every man. He is our Redeemer. Without Him, we are all lost. I did not come to Him on my own. He drew me closer. He showed me His love and the possibility of life with Him. Do we draw closer to Him, so He will draw closer to us? He does all the work and gives us a tiny bit of responsibility in the process. Accept His gift of Grace. If you’re a robot, stop fighting. It doesn’t matter what you think anyway. (It’s what I wanted to post to a completely deterministic Calvinist, but thought...
